- FEBRUARY 11, 2009, 3:45 pmI first heard about Living Things a number of years ago when they were featured in Spin magazine. I became interested in their first album and immediately loved their edgy, rock & roll, pop sound. "Bom Bom Bom" played in my head for days. The best part of their music is that the lyrics really matter. I am now interested in political and human rights issues. Living Things is such a great band and so talented.
Posted by JESS - FEBRUARY 17, 2009, 11:12 pmWhen I went to see Velvet Revolver back in 2004, their very first tour, they had an opening band. Living Things from St. Louis. When Bombs Below kicked in, I was fuckin' hooked. I didn't pay attention to the lyrics at the time, but the energy, angst, and music spoke for itself. That was my first taste, and I promptly bought Resight Your Rights the next day. They gave away a free EP at the gig, but they were gone. I'm glad they released a new album, different from their first-Ahead of the Lions, that has the same integrity as when I saw them the first time. KILLER !
Posted by BLACKOUT_GENERATION - MARCH 8, 2009, 8:35 pmI consider myself pretty knowledgeable about music, and yet somehow, I was not at all familiar with Living Things before they opened for Eagles of Death Metal in Pittsburgh. I don't always arrive in time for the opening band, but for some reason, I felt like I wanted to check out Living Things, even though I knew nothing about them beforehand. Approximately four drum beats into the first song, I was blown away. I don't recall ever enjoying an opening band so much. After their set, I no longer really cared whether EODM was coming on or not. I just wanted more Living Things. I was standing right by the merch table, and I got to meet Cory. My opinion of the band only improved during our conversation; he was really gracious. The night was a happy accident, and I will never forget it. P.S. - Cory, sorry I didn't get to say bye! But my mom said you sent your regards.
Posted by BRIANNA - APRIL 14, 2009, 11:36 pmI frist heard of Living Things in 2006 when I heard Bom Bom Bom. I thought it was a pretty catchy tune. I then heard Bombs Below and there it was; Living Things were my new favorite band. Here we are, in 2009 and Living Things still rank as my number one favorite band. The tunes are catchy and the lyrics make sense. It's good to have a band around that has political music because it makes fans (including myself) more aware of the things happening in society today. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if these guys were remembered as one of the greatest bands of all time.
